If you’re like me, you don’t remember your last new year’s resolution. Such carry remarkably brief importance. But today’s gospel reverses that: the elderly Simeon searches for Christ even if it takes his lifetime. Finally, he embraces the baby in his arms, and realizes this is the Christ. Simeon can now find peace even as death approaches.
Our new year’s resolution? To search for Christ whatever the cost. Resolve to attend an insightful class, and/or pray the Bible each morning. Then, select a specific person in your life whom you will support in Christ’s name. Upon healing that relationship, choose another. There’s no better way in this new year to honor Christ and transform your life. Happy New Year!
