Most scholars agree the teaching of Jesus centers on the Kingdom of God. He refers to it 163 times in the Christian testament. But what is the Kingdom of God? It’s not control, nor power, nor wealth, but justice and peace throughout the earth. It begins with the person of Jesus,,and extends through each of us. Jesus likens it to a mustard seed that grows with cultivation into a mighty plant. Yes, Jesus is calling us to grow into greatness, another unique Christ. This continuing growth stands as the goal of Christian living. Being a Christ is impossible and not the goal, but journeying on its path is. Like the Hebrews, travelling through the desert to the promised land of Christ is central to the Christian.
