Today’s gospel records the priests and levites asking John,” Who are you?”
A teacher once asked me that question, I responded, “I am Norm.” She answered, ” No, that’s your name.” I replied, “I am a man.” She shot-back, “No, that’s your gender.” Later, I thought more deeply, “Who am I anyway? What’s most basic to me: to you?” As Christians, we must answer in terms of God, our supreme relationship. So, our response? You and I are brothers and sisters in Christ. This relationship calls for giving our best to each other fully. That’s all that matters. So, as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth, let’s also celebrate his birth and life in each of us.
