Today’s first proclamation recalls Gods’ commanding the Hebrews to slaughter a choice lamb, consume it at supper, and sprinkle its blood on the door frames of their houses. God will spare the Hebrew occupants from death which the Egyptians will suffer. We don’t know what really happened on this night of Passover, but the lamb’s blood surely signifies its saving role. Thus, we follow John the Baptist in calling Jesus, the Lamb of God. His blood forms the new covenant, and calls us to mingle our blood spiritually with his to establish our own saving role. These days of COVid19 provide us an opportunity to overcome the shackles of difficulty and discouragement. With the Hebrews, God is calling us to freedom
