THE HEART OF CHRISTIANITY!

During these days of threat, today’s gospel “breathes” of life and life-giving. Imagine for a moment you are the ill Lazarus (actually, all of us are spiritually ill). Then you die; but wait: there is hope: Jesus is coming. Your sister, Martha, greets Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother Lazarus would not have died.” (How true!)  Jesus responds, “I am the resurrection and the life” meaning that insofar as we lead his life in ours, we are truly risen and alive. Then, his crucial question: “Do you believe this?” Jesus comes to our tomb, and cries out, “Lazarus (substitute your name), come out!” The dead one comes out tied hands and feet with burial bands. Jesus is calling us this moment to come out of our tombs of worry and despair. We live gratuitously in God’s wondrous world of mystery and beauty. And Jesus said, “Untie him, and let him go free!”

  1. Seems like we are all tied up and bound up with ourselves, our sins of omission and commission and find it hard to refocus our lives on what Jesus wants us to focus on in our lifetime journey…..we need to take time and ask Jesus what he wants of us today and in the future. A true story of Love and Compassion! This is our motus aparende! Our Purpose in life…to the extent we live this we are successful and wealthy! As The Christ became The Love of the Father…the Spirit of Compassion..we too need to become enveloped imbibed totally filled with that same Love and Compassion. As much as this happens to all of us, then we have heaven here on earth… Ah, The goal…to make that happen for all of us!! Joe first half then Mary next half
