Wind! Fire! Language! Luke spotlights these three on this day of Pentecost. They recall prior biblical references in describing the Holy Spirit of divine love. For example, we don’t know the origin or term of a mighty wind nor where it will lead us when we commit to the power of supreme love. Fire describes the death-defying peerless passion which distinguishes and consumes real Christian lovers. Understanding foreign languages symbolizes our loving beyond the walls of all bias. Neither race, religion, age, sexual persuasion nor any difference prevents the Christian from loving unconditionally and appropriately. Could this be the meaning of Christ and our human success? Pentecost truly defines our present and eternal future in the winds of fiery inclusion.
