“I believe in God the Father almighty” begins our creed at every Eucharist.Truly, this expresses our beliefs but not necessarily our faith. We believe in our church, its teachings and truths. We have faith, however, in the explanations of Jesus to the fundamental compelling questions of life; for example, does God really abide in all beings; is God love itself; and what of our destiny? Do I trust the answers of Jesus despite apparently opposing evidence? Jesus pictures our faith as a towering mulberry tree which, at our command, could be uprooted and planted in the sea. Whatever tragedy you suffer, he pictures your faith as indestructible and effective. Jesus had such crucified faith in his Father, and calls us to follow him thereby into eternal joy.
