Today’s first lesson from Isaiah rings in the new church year with a challenging resolution for each of us: peace. Christ’s peace, and thus ours, has no enemy whether of nation. religion, culture, or individual. However, these days, peace seems like the impossible dream. Is Christ asking too much of us to consecrate this as a year of personal peace in our most troubling relationship? Some folks will reject any offer you make, but at least you have tried. Often however, they will accept your apology or invitation. In either case, you are blessed, for you have become a peacemaker, and the prophetic words of Isaiah will apply to you: “You have beaten your sword into a plowshare”, and, “walked in the light of the Lord”.
