Jesus had just enjoyed a victorious day during which he had healed many, and now the entire village of Capharnaum was seeking him out. His disciples found him early the next morning with the good news, but Jesus responds, “Let’s go to the next town that I may preach there also, for that is why I have come.” Jesus has no interest in “resting on his laurels”, but lives to preach in the next town and the next. His word comes alive not only from his lips but especially from his life-style. The same for us: as his disciples, we must live primarily to preach his word in all our relationships by the way we live. Jesus calls you to preach by the goodness you express.
