Arguments abound on both sides as to whether immigrants are welcome. Today’s first proclamation provides God’s biblical and storied answer. Abraham sees God in the guise of 3 strangers approaching his tent. He does not build a wall of rejection, but greets them, bows down, and  offers them a banquet. In turn, they promise Sara, Abraham’s aged wife, that she will bear a precious son. Sara laughs! We also at times disbelieve and laugh at the possibility and worth of  our immigrant brothers and sisters. But Sara conceives and bears her illustrious son, Isaac. Yes, receiving the immigrant pleases God, generates new life, and enriches our own lives. Indeed, from God’s point of view, we are all one; there are no immigrants
